Product Description:
The PSI63C0.720-L2 medium-frequency inverter is built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. In automated environments it converts high-voltage three-phase power into a regulated medium-frequency waveform that drives induction heaters, shrink-fit stations, or other process tools requiring precise thermal cycles. Housed for cabinet mounting, the unit communicates with line controllers through an Ethernet interface and brings medium-frequency energy to tooling through high-current busbars. By supplying current at adjustable power levels, it enables closed-loop process control and repeatable part quality.
Incoming line power can vary between 480–690 VAC, allowing deployment on common 480 V or 690 V factory networks without external transformers. At those voltages the inverter draws a nominal 110 A, a value that dictates upstream fuse sizing and busbar cross-section. Control electronics are supplied locally with 24 VDC, and they consume only 2 A, so a small auxiliary power module can keep diagnostics active when the main contactor is open. The power stage modulates its IGBTs at a 1 kHz PWM primary frequency, establishing the base ripple spectrum the output filter must attenuate. Cabinet losses rise from 100 W at idle to 200 W at full current, and the air-cooled design expels this heat through front-to-rear flow paths.
For peak thermal operations the converter can source 800 A of primary current, while the associated PSG 3100 transformer secondary is rated for 36 kA, giving ample headroom for short, high-energy pulses. Load terminals accept cables up to 50 mm², and installation requires conductors of at least 35 mm² plus a 100 mm clearance zone around the chassis to preserve airflow. The enclosure carries an IP20 rating, so it must be mounted in a clean, dry cabinet where inlet air remains below 45 °C to maintain temperature limits of the semiconductor and filter components.
