Product Description:
The Bosch Rexroth Indramat PSI63C0.720-L1 belongs to the PSI Frequency Inverters series and is classified as a medium-frequency inverter. In automated production cells, it converts three-phase mains power into a controllable medium-frequency output, allowing process equipment to receive accurately shaped current for induction heating, welding, and similar tasks. Integrating the inverter in a cabinet close to the load shortens cable runs and keeps low-voltage control electronics on a common 24 V bus. This arrangement also helps keep the power section and control wiring within the same enclosure.
The unit accepts an input range of 400 – 480 VAC and draws a nominal current of 110 A from the mains. Its output stage uses a 1 kHz PWM carrier so the connected transformer can follow rapid power commands without excessive switching loss. Control electronics are powered from a 24 VDC logic supply that must be present before the power section is enabled. Cabinet dissipation starts at 69 W under basic load and is removed by an air-cooled heat sink, eliminating the need for liquid circulation. A TriCore CPU executes modulation and protection algorithms, while an Ethernet I/O port and an internal timer synchronized through an EtherNet link connect the inverter to PLC networks. Internal auxiliaries such as fans are supplied by an integrated source limited to 2 A, keeping wiring inside the enclosure simple.
During heavy demand, the inverter can reach 170 W of cabinet loss, so enclosure ventilation must handle that value to stay within temperature limits. The converter’s primary circuit withstands up to 800 A, and the secondary side is rated for fault currents as high as 36 kA. Over-voltage events are clipped by MOV surge protection, safeguarding both the DC link and control boards. Power terminations require at least 35 mm² conductors, while the spring terminals accept cables up to 50 mm². The assembly is specified for installation up to 2000 m above sea level without derating.
