Product Description:
The PSI63C0.179-W1 is a medium-frequency inverter built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the PSI Frequency Inverters series. The device converts three-phase 400 V-class mains into controlled kilohertz-range power used for industrial induction heating, resistance welding, and similar high-speed processes. In an automation cell, it serves as the primary energy source, matching drive cycle demands while relying on a closed liquid loop to keep semiconductor temperatures within safe operating limits.
The inverter is water cooled, so heat extraction occurs through a plate exchanger instead of cabinet air. To sustain rated load, it needs a minimum coolant flow of 4 l/min, which produces only 0.1 bar of pressure drop and allows the water supply to remain below the 30 °C limit. The housing carries an IP20 enclosure rating, indicating finger-safe live parts but no liquid protection, and internal fans engage at 55 °C and switch off at 40 °C. Electrically, the drive must be fed by a mains supply with a nominal current of 110 A, and conductors with a cross-section from 35 mm² to 50 mm² fit the terminal set. The built-in E/A_DISKR2ED module links the power stage to a 24 V timer so the control system can trigger a 1000 Hz sequence while the output bridge modulates a 1 kHz carrier.
Additional limits govern full-power operation. The incoming supply may range between 400 – 480 VAC; within that window, the converter restricts cooling losses to 360 W to prevent derating. During rapid current ramps, it can momentarily draw 800 A from the primary side and deliver secondary pulses up to 36 kA when paired with a PSG 3100 welding transformer. The cooling loop is rated for pressures up to 10 bar, and the sequence electronics hold the programmed pulse pattern without compromising insulation between the power and signal sections.
