Product Description:
The PSI6300.724-L1 is a medium frequency inverter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It converts three-phase mains energy into a controlled medium-frequency output that can be applied to induction heaters, weld transformers, or similar high-current loads in automated production cells. By providing regulated current and frequency, the device supports process controllers that require rapid energy modulation. This type of control is useful where the load changes quickly and the output must respond without large overshoot.
The inverter accepts an input of 400 – 480 VAC, allowing connection to standard plant distribution networks, while a dedicated 24 V DC control supply keeps logic and communication active during line interruptions. A pulse-width-modulated bridge runs at a carrier rate of 1 kHz, balancing switching loss and spectral performance for medium-frequency tasks. The power stage supports a nominal system delivery of 800 A, and forced convection removes 360 W of switching heat and up to 170 W of auxiliary dissipation. Separating the control supply from the main input allows status handling to continue while the power stage is unavailable. With a protection rating of IP20, the unit must be housed in a cabinet that provides 100 mm of free space above and below the frame to maintain airflow.
Continuous operation is permitted up to 55 °C ambient, so supplementary cooling may be necessary when the inverter is mounted near heat-intensive equipment. The internal measurement chain can detect secondary currents reaching 36 kA, and that signal supports fast-acting protection functions. Power terminations accept conductors up to 50 mm², while control wiring falls within a 35 mm² envelope for simplified harnessing. Even at standby the unit introduces a basic cabinet loss of 69 W, which should be included in idle-state thermal calculations.
