The PSI6300.650-L2 is a medium-frequency inverter manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It conditions high-voltage, three-phase mains power and delivers regulated medium-frequency power for welding, induction heating, and similar processes. This regulated output supports repeatable energy transfer in automated production lines where precise control of each operating cycle is required.
The power stage accepts a supply range of 480–690 VAC at a standard line frequency of 50/60 Hz. It converts this input into a switching pattern that runs on a control clock of 1 kHz, providing the timing resolution needed for pulse-width modulation. A nominal system current of 110 A supports continuous operation, while the inverter can provide a maximum output current of 800 A for transient load peaks. For faults external to the inverter, the secondary circuit can withstand up to 36 kA without losing isolation. A metal-oxide varistor overvoltage limiter clamps excess transients on the DC link. The air-cooled unit uses a fan cowl, and 100 mm of installation clearance helps maintain stable inlet pressure while 360 W of thermal loss is released into the airflow.
The IP20 housing protects against solid objects, but the unit must be installed in a cabinet where the air temperature at the fan cowl remains below 45 °C. Internally, the semiconductor junctions are rated for an ambient temperature of 55 °C, so cabinet ventilation must prevent heat buildup during heavy operating cycles. Operation is permitted at altitudes up to 2000 m, where the lower air density still supports the required convective cooling. The inverter has a total mass of 21 kg, allowing it to be positioned securely during panel assembly. DeviceNet timer support coordinates start, stop, and dwell functions with upstream controllers, allowing the inverter to synchronize its operating sequence with the surrounding automation system.
