Product Description:
The PSI6300.257-W2 frequency inverter is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. Classified as a medium-frequency inverter, it converts three-phase mains power into a controlled medium-frequency output for induction heating, welding, and other industrial automation duties that require precise energy delivery. It also uses a PROFIBUS timer interface so external controllers can coordinate gating commands during operation. Unlike a conventional motor drive, this unit is intended for process power applications where output stability directly affects heat input and cycle consistency.
Operating from a supply window of 480 – 690 VAC, the unit modulates its output with an internal clock set to 1 kHz. Under nominal conditions, the inverter draws 110 A of system current, yet it can provide as much as 800 A of controlled output to the workpiece coil. Water cooling is mandatory; a flow of 4 l/min and a maximum coolant temperature of 30 °C remove up to 500 W of heat from the power electronics. Inside the cabinet, passive dissipation starts at a basic loss of 100 W and can rise to 140 W when the inverter delivers maximum rated power. This control arrangement helps keep the medium-frequency waveform stable during rapid load changes and supports repeatable process output during demanding heating or welding cycles.
The electronics can operate at ambient temperatures up to 55 °C when the water-cooled design is maintained. Cabinet placement can be as high as 2000 m above sea level without derating, and the enclosure has an IP20 rating for installation inside a control cabinet or other protected enclosure. On the secondary side, the commutation transformer may see peaks of 36 kA, so conductor selection uses a minimum cross-section of 35 mm² to limit resistive losses and heating. These limits are important in installations where heavy current pulses and continuous thermal loading occur in the same process cycle.
