The PSI6300.257-L1 is a medium-frequency inverter manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the PSI Frequency Inverters series. This unit converts three-phase utility power into a regulated medium-frequency output required by induction heaters, melting furnaces, and similar heat-processing equipment in automated production cells. Its output is intended for heating loads rather than rotating motors, making it suitable for applications where controlled energy delivery matters more than mechanical motion. By coordinating with programmable controllers through its integrated fieldbus, the inverter serves as a compact power stage that supplies high secondary currents to match changing thermal loads.
In normal operation, the inverter draws three-phase input between 400 – 480 VAC and switches it at a control clock of 1 kHz. A nominal system current of 110 A is maintained, while the power section can deliver up to 800 A of output to the work coil. Rated for ambient temperatures up to 55 °C, it carries a protection category of IP20, so cabinet installation is required when dust or moisture are present. The PROFIBUS link handles real-time setpoint exchange and diagnostics, and overvoltage events are limited by an MOV network. Terminal blocks accept conductors up to 50 mm², and the outgoing load connections support a 35 mm² wire range.
The air-cooled design dissipates 69 W of cabinet heat without external chillers, and the electronics are supplied from a dedicated 24 V DC control rail to keep logic isolated from the power bus. Recessed mounting allows the heat sink to sit behind the panel line, which helps limit enclosure depth. The inverter can store up to 256 parameter sets, enabling rapid job changeovers, while a PROFIBUS-driven timer module synchronizes dwell times with upstream PLC sequences. That arrangement supports repeatable timing during multistep heating cycles. Operation is permitted up to 2000 m elevation, and the power stage used in PSG 3100 configurations handles a maximum secondary current of 36 kA for short pulses.
