The PSI6200.227-W1 belongs to the PSI Frequency Inverters series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. As a medium-frequency inverter, it converts three-phase mains power into a controlled high-frequency output that drives induction heating coils, forging furnaces, or similar industrial loads. The unit integrates into automation cells through its PROFIBUS interface, letting the plant PLC select stored programs and supervise power delivery while a standard CPU inside the inverter executes the selected sequence.
The enclosure measures 288 mm wide, 653 mm high, and 280 mm deep, so adequate rack space and cooling clearances can be allocated. It accepts a supply of 400 – 480 VAC and draws a nominal line current of 220 A during rated operation; wiring therefore requires conductors sized to 95 mm² and protective devices matched to the stated current. The internal converter modulates the DC link at a primary voltage frequency of 1 kHz to create the medium-frequency output. Program storage for 256 sequences enables switching between heating profiles without reparameterizing the drive, and both the timer function and fieldbus communication use PROFIBUS to synchronize energy pulses with upstream motion or material-handling events. A water-cooled heat sink keeps semiconductor temperatures stable, and the water circuit experiences a pressure drop of 0.6 bar at the specified flow rate.
During transient demand, the inverter can deliver a primary current of 1200 A, and a matching PSG 3100 output transformer can pass a secondary current of 54 kA (PSG 3100) to the work coil. Continuous cooling requires a minimum flow of 4 l/min; falling below this rate risks thermal shutdown. The housing carries an IP20 rating, so it must be mounted in a clean electrical cabinet protected from conductive dust or liquids. Water-cooled operation reduces enclosure temperature rise, allowing reliable service even when all 256 programs are executed in rapid succession.
