The PSI6200.206-W1 is a medium frequency inverter manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and supplied in the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It serves as the power stage in automated welding or induction stations, converting factory three-phase power into a controllable medium-frequency output that can be synchronized with motion sequences. By delivering regulated current pulses, the unit lets machine builders drive several resistance welding heads from one cabinet while keeping cycle times short and energy delivery consistent. Internal control electronics accept high-speed fieldbus commands so the inverter reacts quickly to tooling changes and production recipes.

It accepts a three-phase input of 400 – 480 VAC and is designed for a continuous output of 220 A. For short welding bursts, the primary side can rise to 1200 A, so the screw terminals are sized for 95 mm² conductors to keep temperature rise within limits. Heat generated by these currents is removed through a water-cooled plate, and the enclosure carries an IP20 rating because it is mounted inside a cabinet rather than on the machine frame. An integrated power supply provides 24 VDC at 2 A for valves, sensors, and the internal logic that draws 1.5 A nominal with a 2 A surge of 10 ms.

On the secondary side, the inverter can deliver up to 54 kA, matching the demands of modern resistance-welding transformers. Reliable water circulation is mandatory; the cooling circuit must provide a minimum of 4 l/min and will see a pressure drop of 0.6 bar at that flow. All parameter data and timer triggers move over a PROFIBUS link, and up to 32 electrodes can be sequenced from the same inverter. The control memory stores 256 programs, allowing distinct current, time, and sequence parameters to be recalled without reconfiguring the master controller.
