Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the PSI6101.321-L1, a medium-frequency inverter in the PSI Frequency Inverters series. The unit converts three-phase plant power into a controlled medium-frequency output that drives induction heaters, resonant power supplies, or similar loads in automated production lines. Through standard fieldbus commands, machine controllers can modulate output energy precisely for repeatable heat-treating, bonding, or melting cycles without mechanical contact. This electronic control allows power delivery to be adjusted in response to programmed production sequences and changing process requirements.
The integrated supply stage accepts three-phase mains from 400 to 480 VAC, a range that matches common industrial feeders without requiring step-up transformers. Support for 50 or 60 Hz mains frequencies allows the inverter to operate with widely used industrial power systems while maintaining consistent output behavior. A built-in auxiliary converter provides 24 VDC control power at up to 2 A for contactors, sensors, and fieldbus electronics mounted in the same cabinet. Heat dissipation from the switching devices is limited to 360 W, which helps determine the cabinet airflow needed to keep the semiconductor junctions within their operating limits. The inverter uses air cooling, so it does not require an external water circuit. Timer handling over the INTERBUS network synchronizes power bursts with higher-level PLC sequences for coordinated process steps.
The housing has an ingress protection rating of IP20, so the inverter must be installed in a closed cabinet that provides suitable protection against dust and accidental contact. Operation is permitted from +10 to +55 °C, allowing use across the temperature range commonly encountered in industrial control rooms. The electronics can withstand storage or transportation temperatures from -25 to +70 °C without damage. The inverter complies with climatic classification 3K3 under EN 60721-3-3, which covers the moderate humidity and vibration conditions typical of factory buildings. With a mass of approximately 20 kg, the inverter can be secured to a suitable panel using standard mounting hardware.
