The PSI6100.650-L1 is a medium-frequency inverter manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It is used in automated heating or welding lines, where it converts incoming three-phase power into a regulated medium-frequency output. This controlled output supports induction coils and other resonant loads that are not supplied directly from the mains.

The inverter’s control electronics are energized by a separate 24 V DC supply, so low-voltage logic can remain active during main power interruptions. The power section accepts a three-phase input of 400 to 480 VAC and can deliver up to 400 A of output current under rated conditions. Steady-state system draw is limited to 110 A, which is useful when selecting upstream circuit protection. The housing has an IP20 rating for cabinet installation in clean electrical enclosures, and forced-air cooling removes heat from the unit during operation. An internal fan dissipates up to 360 W of heat, the installation should allow 100 mm of clearance with inlet air not exceeding 45 °C, and a 3.6 V lithium backup cell maintains timekeeping and parameter memory when plant power is off.

Transient demands are handled by a secondary circuit that can withstand 20 kA for short durations, which helps the inverter ride through brief load spikes on highly inductive applications. Output timing is based on a 1 kHz clock, giving fine pulse-width modulation control. The unit can continue operating until the ambient temperature around the heat sink reaches 55 °C, although temperatures above 45 °C require additional airflow to limit derating. User programs of up to 256 steps can be stored internally, DeviceNet timing functions can coordinate the inverter with upstream PLC sequences, and the power terminals accept cable lugs up to 50 mm² while 35 mm² wire is recommended for the control board feed.
