Product Description:
The PSI6100.642-L1 belongs to the PSI Frequency Inverters series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. Classified as a medium-frequency inverter, it converts fixed-frequency mains power into a controllable output for induction heating coils, hardening equipment, or other process loads that need precisely timed energy delivery within automated production cells. By regulating amplitude and frequency, the unit lets a higher-level controller match thermal or magnetic power to changing material and throughput requirements. This operating role makes it suitable for processes where repeatable heating behavior and coordinated timing are important to overall machine performance.
The inverter connects to three-phase supplies rated at 400 – 480 VAC, and its internal H-bridge switches operate at a carrier frequency of 1 kHz, giving finely stepped voltage modulation without excessive semiconductor losses. The control electronics use 24 V DC, which keeps the logic supply separate from the main power stage. When demanded by the load, the output stage can deliver up to 400 A. The housing has an IP20 rating, so the unit is intended for installation inside a closed panel with forced ventilation. Airflow through the heat-sink fins removes cabinet heat, integrated temperature monitoring shuts the inverter down if thermal limits are exceeded, and a metal-oxide varistor network clamps supply transients. Field wiring accepts solid or stranded conductors up to 50 mm², while motor or coil leads can be terminated on 35 mm² lugs. A dedicated DeviceNet timer interface supports synchronized start-of-cycle signals from the control system.
For peak events such as workpiece insertion, the commutation transformer can tolerate a secondary surge of 20 kA. In continuous operation, the nominal system current is 110 A. Reliable service is maintained when ambient temperature does not exceed 55 °C and installation altitude remains below 2000 m. If those limits are exceeded, the application requires derating or additional cooling. The air-cooled layout and transient suppression network help the inverter maintain stable operation during changing mains conditions and rapid duty-cycle shifts.
