Product Description:
The PSI6100.631-W2 medium-frequency inverter is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. Intended for resistance welding cells and other high-current tasks, the unit converts plant-level AC into controlled DC pulses that drive a welding transformer at several kilohertz. It integrates sequencing and communications so an automation controller can request precise energy bursts without relying on separate power stages. This arrangement reduces cabinet volume in automated production lines.
Incoming three-phase mains of 480–690 VAC feed the power bridge, while a separate 24 VDC supply maintains logic and sensor power. Heat generated by the IGBTs is removed through a water-cooled baseplate, allowing full-load operation even in sealed cabinets. The housing has an IP20 protection rating, so the inverter must be mounted inside a control panel. For parameter upload, diagnostics, or local scripting, an RS232 (V24) programming port is available. Execution timing uses a 1 ms time base governed by the DeviceNet timer, and the inverter exchanges 9 bytes of input and 9 bytes of output data on the network during each scan. The controller also provides eight digital inputs and eight digital outputs for clamp closure, force ramp, and weld trigger events.
User programs are stored in memory with a capacity of 256 steps, and a 3.6 V AA lithium backup battery preserves those settings when both mains and logic supplies are absent. The power section delivers weld current in increments of 10 A and supports up to 10 force profile points for staged pressure control during a weld cycle. It also accepts up to nine impulses and sequences three independent weld-time blocks for multi-pulse schedules. Each digital output can switch up to 0.1 A, giving reliable actuation of valves, solenoids, or relays in tight welding cycles.
