The PSI6100.630-L1 is a medium-frequency inverter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It converts three-phase mains power to controlled intermediate frequencies so induction heaters, high-speed spindles, or specialized power supplies receive the waveform required by automated processes. Positioned between the drive and the plant utility feed, this inverter manages energy flow, supports stable motor excitation, and links to higher-level controls through its DeviceNet communication interface.

The power section accepts a nominal input of 400 - 480 VAC and can deliver a continuous thermal line current of 110 A. Internally, a clock frequency of 1 kHz governs the switching devices so the output maintains low harmonic distortion while keeping commutation losses predictable. When dynamic peaks occur, the unit can provide up to 400 A of output, and cabinet dissipation is limited to 69 W under rated load, which helps with enclosure ventilation sizing. The air-cooled construction draws ambient air across heat sinks, and the airflow path must stay within 45 °C to preserve semiconductor life. Surge arresters based on metal-oxide varistors protect the DC link from line spikes, and secondary fault currents up to 20 kA are routed through dedicated bus bars. Wiring is accommodated by screw terminals that accept 35 mm² conductors, with a 50 mm² mechanical limit on the lugs.

Total cooling losses can rise to 360 W during maximum modulation, so airflow calculations should reflect this worst-case figure. The inverter remains functional up to an ambient temperature of 55 °C, provided the mounting altitude does not exceed 2000 m and derating curves are observed. An IP20 housing allows placement inside closed control cabinets where finger-safe protection is sufficient. The control electronics draw a separate 24 V DC supply, isolating the logic from the main bus so diagnostics and fieldbus communication can remain online during power-stage maintenance.
