The PSI6100.627-L1 medium-frequency inverter is manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. In an automation line it sits between the utility supply and the load, generating a regulated medium-frequency current that drives induction heating coils, welding transformers, or resonant power supplies. Recessed mounting places the unit inside a switchgear cabinet, and its IP20 housing is intended for dry indoor environments where only basic touch protection is required.

The power stage accepts a three-phase input voltage of 400–480 VAC and chops it at a clock frequency of 1 kHz to create the desired output waveform. Control electronics run from an isolated 24 V DC circuit, while a built-in MOV network clamps overvoltage transients. Under continuous duty the inverter carries a nominal system current of 110 A; momentary peaks up to 400 A are available for dynamic load changes, and the transformer's secondary can withstand fault currents as high as 20 kA. Integrated temperature monitoring supervises critical semiconductors, and an air-cooled heat sink discharges losses to the cabinet plenum. DeviceNet timing is provided for coordinated start, stop, and diagnostic polling by the cell controller.

Thermal limits permit operation in ambient air up to 55 °C, provided the cooling airflow entering the cabinet does not exceed 45 °C. Installation is approved up to 2000 m above sea level without derating, supporting most plant elevations. Line and load conductors connect to spring terminals sized for a cross-section of 35 mm², while the largest permissible cabinet feed-through is 50 mm². At full load the inverter dissipates only 69 W into the enclosure, minimizing HVAC demand. Continuous air cooling maintains semiconductor junction temperatures within limits, and integrated timers ensure orderly shutdown if airflow or temperature thresholds are violated.
