The PSI6100.336-W1 is a medium-frequency inverter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It supplies controlled welding energy to inductive transformers and similar loads in automated production lines. By converting three-phase plant power into a regulated high-frequency output, it serves as the core power stage for resistance welding systems synchronized through INTERBUS field networks. This conversion supports precise control of the energy applied during each welding cycle while allowing the surrounding automation system to coordinate production sequences.
The inverter accepts a nominal line supply of 400–480 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz and draws up to 110 A under rated duty. The phase-to-ground voltage must not exceed 480 VAC, and the primary conduction limit is 400 A to protect the internal semiconductors. Control electronics are isolated from the power section by a 24 VDC logic rail, while the integrated auxiliary supply can source up to 2 A for connected sensors or valves. Process and diagnostic data are exchanged through an INTERBUS I/O and timer interface. The controller can recall as many as 256 weld programs from battery-backed RAM without requiring local rewiring, and the stored program data remain available when the logic supply is off. The steel housing has an IP20 protection rating and is intended for cabinet installation under EN 60721-3-3 climatic class 3K3 conditions.
Thermal management relies on a water-cooled heat sink that removes the inverter’s internal losses of 420 W. The cooling circuit requires a minimum flow of 4 L/min at a pressure no higher than 10 bar, and the coolant must enter below 30 °C. Continuous operation is permitted from +10 °C to 55 °C, while storage is permitted from -25 °C to +70 °C. When commanded, the inverter can deliver welding pulses up to 20 kA, providing sufficient current capacity for resistance welding of thick workpieces. The unit weighs approximately 25 kg, which must be considered when selecting cabinet supports and lifting equipment. An INTERBUS hardware timer controls welding sequence timing and supports synchronization with the surrounding production system.
