Product Description:
The PSI6100.205-L1 is a medium-frequency inverter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. As a power-conversion device, it conditions three-phase mains energy for controlled delivery at a 1 kHz switching rate, making it suitable for drive and process equipment that need stable medium-frequency current. In an automation cell, the inverter sits between the plant supply and the load, providing regulated output while supervising temperature and overvoltage limits.
The control electronics are powered from a dedicated 24 V DC supply, while the main power stage accepts a three-phase supply range of 400 – 480 VAC. Internally, the converter pulses this line energy at its switching frequency and can sustain a nominal system current of 110 A. For short duty peaks, the output bridge delivers up to 400 A, so the matching fuse and busbar must be sized for that level. When running at maximum power, cabinet thermal dissipation reaches 170 W, so the housing uses an air-cooled path and has an IP20 degree of protection against solid objects. Integrated MOV circuitry clamps overvoltage events on the DC link, and PROFIBUS timer logic coordinates gating sequences with upstream controllers.
The installation requires 100 mm of clearance for airflow, and air movement must extract up to 360 W of cooling loss produced by the inductor and semiconductors. Application cabinets exposed to ambient temperatures up to 55 °C remain within thermal limits because onboard sensors trigger fan control and shutdown functions. Downstream, the PSG 3100 transformer can produce a maximum secondary fault current of 20 kA, so output bus conductors must be sized accordingly. The terminals accept lugs rated to 50 mm², while the internal wiring block supports conductors up to 35 mm². Temperature monitoring is integrated into the power stack, and the control electronics must stay energized during standby to preserve diagnostic memory.
