Product Description:
The PSI6100.201-W1 is a medium-frequency inverter manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It converts factory mains power into controlled medium-frequency energy for induction heating, brazing, and similar processes that require accurate thermal control. The product integrates into automation cells through its PROFIBUS interface, allowing the inverter to be commanded and monitored from a central PLC.
This inverter accepts a three-phase supply of 400 – 480 VAC and draws a nominal line current of 110 A. Internal power devices are cooled by a water-cooled heat exchanger, so cabinet airflow can be minimized. A maximum fundamental output of 1 kHz lets the unit energize work coils that require rapid magnetic field reversal, while the enclosure meets IP20 for installation inside protected electrical rooms. The standard CPU executes 256 stored programs, allowing recipe selection directly from the controller, and PROFIBUS timing functions coordinate start, stop, and dwell cycles with external motion axes. Minimum power cabling is 35 mm², and terminal lugs accept up to 50 mm² conductors so the power connections remain compatible with common switchgear layouts.
On the secondary side, the converter can energize a PSG 3100 transformer with up to 20 kA of current during short-duration heating pulses. The water circuit must not exceed a pressure of 10 bar and must deliver at least 4 l/min of flow at a supply temperature below 30 °C to keep semiconductor junctions within their thermal limits. Control electronics are powered by a separate 24 VDC source that maintains communication even when mains power is isolated. A primary current ceiling of 400 A protects upstream breakers, and the timer functions embedded in the PROFIBUS stack synchronize the inverter with quench valves or positioning tables without external relays.
