The PSI6100.201-L1 is a medium-frequency inverter produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat as part of the PSI Frequency Inverters series. It converts three-phase supply power into a controlled medium-frequency output for processes such as induction heating and welding that require high, quickly adjustable current. The unit mounts recessed inside a control cabinet, and its housing limits the ingress of solid objects. Integrated temperature monitoring supervises the internal power modules and intake airflow so the inverter can disconnect before thermal limits are exceeded.

This model accepts mains voltage in the range of 400 – 480 VAC and is intended for grounded TN or TT line networks. It can deliver momentary output currents up to 400 A, while its continuous thermal current is rated at 110 A. Under fault conditions, the secondary circuit can withstand up to 20 kA, so protective devices must be coordinated with that capacity. A protection rating of IP20 means live parts are finger safe, but the drive still requires installation in an enclosed panel. Power terminations accept conductors up to 50 mm², and the control wiring block supports leads up to 35 mm². A metal-oxide varistor protects the DC link against transient surges, and a PROFIBUS-based timer interface allows a PLC to coordinate drive enable periods and diagnostics.

The inverter’s power stage switches at a clock frequency of 1 kHz, which affects output-filter design and the allowable stray inductance in bus connections. Cooling is strictly air cooled, and the intake airflow must remain below 45 °C. The surrounding ambient temperature may rise to 55 °C before automatic derating occurs. If these limits are exceeded, the integrated sensors issue warnings or initiate a shutdown. This arrangement shortens cabinet depth and places the power terminals close to busbars, which helps reduce loop impedance.
