The PSI6100.180-L1 is a medium-frequency inverter developed by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and offered within the PSI Frequency Inverters series. The unit converts standard factory mains power into a regulated medium-frequency output and is used in industrial automation where precise control of induction heating generators, spindle drives, or similar loads is required. An integrated 24 V timer interface synchronizes the inverter with external control sequences, allowing it to operate as both a power source and a coordinated component within multi-axis machining or forming lines.
It accepts three-phase mains power in the 400–480 VAC range at 50 or 60 Hz, eliminating the need for external transformers on most European or North American supplies. Internally, a switched-mode auxiliary supply delivers 24 VDC at up to 2 A, allowing proximity sensors, contactors, or the inverter’s control electronics to receive power without an additional supply. The enclosure has an IP20 protection rating, which prevents fingers and similarly sized objects from reaching live parts, although the unit still requires cabinet installation for additional protection. Heat is removed by forced air flowing through dedicated channels, and this airflow keeps semiconductor junctions within their operating temperature limits during continuous use.
The inverter is suitable for switchgear rooms that meet the 3K3 climatic class of EN 60721-3-3. Operation is permitted at ambient temperatures from +10 °C to +55 °C when relative humidity remains moderate. During storage or transportation, the inverter tolerates temperatures from -25 °C to +70 °C without degradation. Maximum thermal dissipation is 360 W, which must be considered when cabinet ventilation or air conditioning is sized. The unit has an overall mass of 20 kg, providing a substantial chassis that helps limit the effects of mechanical vibration during operation.
