The PPC-R02.2 is a control unit manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the PPC Controllers series. It is intended to run application logic, motion commands, and network coordination inside automated machinery. Through its SERCOS channel and discrete I/O, the unit links drives, sensors, and higher-level PLCs, allowing deterministic cycle control while occupying minimal cabinet space. This arrangement allows one controller to coordinate axis behavior and basic machine signals from a single module.

Its computational core relies on a PowerPC processor that handles real-time scheduling and communication tasks. Working data are buffered in 8 MB of SDRAM, while control software and user programs are stored in a nonvolatile 4 MB Flash bank that can be reloaded through the service port. Machine parameters that must remain available after power loss are held in 64 KB of NVRAM, and production identifiers are stored in a dedicated 256 bytes serial EEPROM. The controller also provides three digital inputs and two digital outputs for direct connection to limit switches or relays. Its SERCOS channel operates at the SERCON 410 baud rate and maintains synchronous telegram exchange with adjacent drive modules, while design version 2 uses a RECO housing so the module can slide onto a backplane that distributes the required 24 VDC supply without separate harnesses.

Under full load, the electronics draw up to 1.2 A from the main 24 V line, and internal conversion keeps total power below 52 W max. Compact dimensions of 83.7 × 192 × 150 mm support dense stacking in 200 mm-deep enclosures, which helps when cabinet depth is limited. The housing meets IP20, helping prevent accidental contact with live parts while allowing free air movement for convection cooling. With a weight of 1.3 kg, the module remains manageable during installation, and separate 5 V and 24 V backplane taps can supply neighboring interface cards without additional point-to-point wiring.
