The PPC-P11.1 is a control unit produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the PPC Controllers series, design version 1 within series 11. Supplied on a standard PC PCI short card, it installs directly into an industrial PC housing and supervises coordinated motion or process sequences in automation cells. Through its program port connector, which uses a D-Sub 15-pin female interface, the unit can be linked to service laptops or higher-level PLCs. This arrangement places the control hardware inside the PC chassis, where it can coordinate multiple machine sections from a single platform. It can serve as the main motion coordinator for cabinet-based automation systems with distributed drives.

The hardware occupies a board footprint of 175 x 107 mm and communicates with the host backplane by a PCI, 32-bit, 33 MHz bus, so parameter data are exchanged without additional fieldbus cards. An onboard CompactFlash module provides 32 MB of non-volatile storage for system files, user programs, and drive parameters. The digital section can switch loads that draw up to 0.5 A, and control loops react within an I/O response time of 400 µs max for closely timed command and feedback handling. Status during boot and runtime is shown locally by a one-digit 7-segment display, which gives a quick visual indication when the host screen is unavailable.

The controller manages up to 40 axes simultaneously, which suits transfer lines and packaging machines that must coordinate several motion sequences at once. It draws 3.3 V 1400 mA from the system supply, while the auxiliary 5 V and 12 V rails remain lightly loaded to limit additional heat inside the rack. Serial maintenance links are available through a program port that supports RS-232/RS-485 signaling, helping preserve diagnostics over longer cable runs. For safety, a watchdog relay rated at 24 V 150 mA drops if program execution stops, so external stop circuits can detect a loss of controller activity without extra interface hardware.
