The NAM4.2-480-0650-NE-120 is a power line form module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the NAM Power Line Form Modules series. It serves as the front-end supply element for multiple drive axes, converting plant mains into a stabilized DC bus and coordinating preload, charging, and fault isolation routines. In industrial automation cabinets, the module simplifies wiring, reduces panel space, and ensures that connected inverters receive consistent energy during demanding motion sequences.

The control section runs from a dedicated AC 120 V line. An allowable swing of ±10% keeps logic stable when utility voltage drifts, while synchronization to 60 Hz maintains correct relay timing. Steady draw stays at 15 VA, which limits heat and allows the use of a 3.0 A miniature breaker on the feeder. During initial DC-link charge, a surge of 1000 VA / 150 ms passes through the preload resistor, charging capacitors without nuisance trips. Auxiliary contacts rated at 24 VDC and 1 A transmit status to the PLC, and a 1 A preload output provides a controlled current ramp.

On the power side, the module supports a continuous bus draw of up to 650 A, provided that the external bus capacitors do not exceed the integrated limit of 150 mF. The prospective short-circuit withstand is 100 kA, so upstream protection devices must match this interruption rating.
