Bosch Rexroth Indramat manufactures the MTS-R02.2-M2-P2-NN-NN-FW servo control module within the MTS Servo Control Modules series. The device serves as a communication and monitoring node that links drive-based motion axes to the cell controller in automated assembly lines, packaging stations, and material-handling equipment. By managing fieldbus traffic, backplane power distribution, and safety watchdog contacts, the module coordinates multiple drives so that motion sequences remain synchronized with PLC commands and system interlocks.

The module installs on the MTS backplane and occupies 2 adjacent carrier slots, drawing its logic power from a system rail that must furnish 24 VDC. For network integration, it carries a PROFIBUS-DP Slave interface that exchanges cyclic and acyclic data with the cell PLC at up to 12 Mbaud. Communication can also start at the programmable default rate of 19.2 kbaud. During runtime, the controller itself draws no more than 0.7 A from the 24 V source, while the dedicated PROFIBUS daughter board is supplied with 5 VDC and consumes about 650 mA. Watchdog relay contacts rated at 150 mA and 24 V let the system remove power from drives if telegrams are interrupted, and the IP20 housing allows installation only in protected enclosures.

Beyond the PROFIBUS link, the module supervises the proprietary Bt inter-module bus. It can accept cable runs up to 50 m and permits a maximum of 4 Bt-capable devices on that segment, helping maintain signal integrity without external repeaters. The internal resource pool contains 2 MB RAM for operating functions and user data buffering, and it can coordinate as many as 16 pluggable I/O expansion modules that occupy neighboring slots. With a mass of 1.65 kg, the unit adds little load to the rack while remaining suitable for common control-cabinet vibration conditions.
