The MTS-R01.2-M2-P1-FW is a servo control module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the MTS Servo Control Modules series. Mounted in a central rack, the unit coordinates drive communication and discrete signals so multi-axis motion controllers receive synchronized status feedback. By managing PROFIBUS traffic and local expansion cards, it links field devices with higher-level logic and exchanges positioning commands, diagnostics, and safety interlocks across the automation network in real time. This arrangement lets the rack pass status and command data between the controller, drives, and connected I/O without separate interface hardware.
The module accepts up to 4 devices on its BT expansion connector and supports a backplane stack of 16 modules, giving flexibility when assembling mixed analog, digital, and drive-specific I/O. A nonvolatile memory bank of 2 MB stores configuration and retained operating data, while a dual-port RAM segment of 8 kB provides fast buffer space for cyclic process variables exchanged with the PLC. The memory layout separates long-term storage from high-speed exchange areas, which helps cyclic data handling stay responsive during bus activity. On the network side, the PROFIBUS interface operates as a master station with selectable transmission speeds up to 12 Mbaud, allowing parameter transfers and diagnostics at full bus speed. Local sensors are powered from the internal 5 V rail, and field terminals can draw up to 2.6 A from the dedicated I/O supply for relays, encoders, and light curtains.
With dimensions of 41.5 × 192 × 159 mm, the card occupies a single slot in the drive rack and draws 0.5 A from the system bus when operating from the rated 24 VDC supply. Single-slot construction keeps rack space available for additional motion or I/O cards in the same chassis. The PROFIBUS circuitry requires 650 mA and can supervise up to 32 user nodes on each segment while maintaining PROFIBUS-DP master functionality. An enclosure rating of IP20 allows installation inside a ventilated control cabinet, and the aluminum housing adds 1.0 kg to the enclosure load, which helps keep panel mass low for slide-out service drawers.
