The MTS-P02.2-D2-B1-P2-S4-NN-FW is a servo control module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the MTS Servo Control Modules series. Designed for distributed motion platforms, the unit coordinates drive tasks, handles field communication, and supervises safety interlocks in industrial automation cells. It slots into a PC-104 or back-plane rack to bridge higher-level PCs with operator panels, networking buses, and local digital I/O hardware.

On the front side, the module supports a Bt bus that can address 4 Operator Panels, letting multiple HMIs share a single controller. Its local interface provides 16 TTL In / 16 TTL Out signals for fast machine feedback. When powered from the system back-plane the electronics draw up to 1.8 A (@ +5 V); the board also carries +12 V and –12 V rails for ancillary circuits. Fieldbus traffic is handled through PROFIBUS at a sustained rate of 12 Mbaud with an image size of 368 I/O bytes and diagnostic polling at 9600 baud. The Interbus master table can map as many as 512 remote devices, while messages to the host industrial computer travel across the ISA bus. Two RS-232 and two RS-422/485 ports extend connectivity to barcode scanners, drives, or external loggers.

For cabinet layouts, the Bt trunk may be routed up to 50 m without repeater hardware, and the Interbus backbone reaches 12.8 km through fiber or copper segments of 400 m each. Systems that need stacked processing cards can add four PC/104 expansion boards; the module recognizes 4 Modules without firmware changes. Each asynchronous channel is protected by a dual-port FIFO of 256 Bytes Each so burst data cannot overrun the CPU. A change-of-state watchdog contact rated for 24 V at 150 mA offers failsafe signaling to external relays. Together these parameters define installation distance, expansion headroom, and buffer depth, ensuring deterministic operation when the controller orchestrates decentralized axes and sensor networks.
