The MTS-P01.2-D2-P1-NN-NN-NN-FW is a communication module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the MTS Servo Control Modules series. It plugs into an Indramat automation rack to act as the network coordinator on a PROFIBUS fieldbus line, exchanging the drive controller’s local data with higher-level PLCs and peer stations. By serving as the fieldbus interface, the unit lets motion controllers share position, status, and diagnostic words with distributed devices without adding separate gateway hardware.

The module is identified as a PROFIBUS-DP Master, so it issues the bus token and polls attached slaves. A selectable data rate of 12 Mbaud allows high-speed cyclic transfer, and the master can address up to 125 slaves in the logical network map. Physical loading per cable run is limited to 32 users per segment, and additional segments are linked through repeaters when more nodes are required. For onboard expansion, the Bt local bus supports four subordinate devices with a maximum trunk length of 50 m, which helps keep backplane delays short between the control module and add-on I/O cards. An RS-232-C service port fixed at 9600 baud provides access to parameter sets and alarm flags during setup or maintenance.

The electronics are powered from the rack’s base supply rails of +5 V / +12 V / -12 V, and the PROFIBUS circuitry alone draws 650 mA from the 5 V rail, a value that must be considered when sizing the cabinet power supply. An internal dual-port memory of 8 kB buffers telegrams so byte-level access by the drive processor does not stall network traffic. Sixteen local input lines are accepted as 16 TTL inputs, and they are mirrored together with sixteen TTL outputs into a 512-byte master process image for deterministic read and write operations across both the Bt bus and the PROFIBUS channel.
