It serves as the communication and processing node that links motion controllers, field devices, and drive amplifiers in automated lines, coordinating data exchange while occupying only a single slot in the control cabinet. The unit translates field-bus traffic, manages local digital I/O, and conditions power for logic circuits, making it a compact supervisor for multi-axis positioning tasks in packaging, printing, and material-handling machinery.
The housing is 22 mm wide, 145 mm high, and 295 mm deep, allowing dense rack placement. For digital sensing, the board provides 16 TTL inputs and an equal number of TTL outputs routed through ribbon connectors. Each communication channel uses a 256-byte circular buffer that decouples bus timing from processor cycle time. Internal logic is powered from the +5 V rail; it may draw up to 0.6 A and must see no more than 50 mV of ripple on that supply. The card also carries +12 V and −12 V rails where ripple is limited to 120 mV. Two RS422/485 ports permit differential links to remote drives or operator panels.
