Installed in a compact 22 mm rack slot, it processes program code, exchanges data with connected drives, and forwards status messages to supervisory control systems. Within an automated cell, it links local operator terminals, fieldbus segments, and serial devices so axis controllers can receive coordinated setpoints while operators view real-time diagnostics. The module handles these control tasks in one slot, which helps conserve rack space for additional interface or motion hardware.
The module’s primary communication port supports RS232/RS422/RS485 signaling levels, and its logic section draws only 0.6 A from the regulated +5 V backplane rail, helping the supply stay within thermal limits. For distributed I/O, it acts as an INTERBUS Master, and the line is wired through a dedicated D-SUB 9-Pin Female connector that fits the series shielding scheme.
