The MTS-P01.1-S1-B1-S4-NN-NN-FW is a plug-in servo control module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the MTS Servo Control Modules series. Designed for installation in an ISA expansion slot, the board provides INTERBUS master connectivity so a host PC can exchange deterministic data with remote I/O stations. In automated production cells, it links sensors, drives, and actuators to the central control system without requiring separate rack hardware. This arrangement lets the host computer manage fieldbus traffic and motion-related data through one installed module. It also integrates into motion-control PCs that manage servo axes for packaging, printing, or material-handling equipment.
The module uses an ISA bus plug-in form factor, so it shares the PC backplane address and interrupt lines directly. Its fieldbus interface works as an INTERBUS master, and communication follows the DIN E 19 258 protocol for cyclic data exchange across copper or fiber segments. A dedicated 1 MB RAM bank stores process images and diagnostic flags, buffering telegrams before they are forwarded on the local bus through a 50-way ribbon cable. The card also supports the PC/104 option module bus and offers two RS-232 ports plus two RS-422 ports for parameterization or point-to-point links. Each serial channel uses a 256-byte buffer to reduce the risk of data overruns during burst transfers.
Up to 256 remote bus segments can be chained, and each segment can be arranged in as many as 16 device levels. This allows a maximum of 512 logical nodes on the network. That network structure suits distributed machines with multiple I/O drops and separate mechanical sections that must exchange data in a predictable cycle. Installations that use ring topologies can accommodate 32 loop devices, and systems that need embedded coprocessors can stack four PC/104 modules on the option connector. During continuous polling, the board draws no more than 250 mA from the serial power rail, keeping the ISA slot within its specified current limit.
