Product Description:
The MST450D-0006-FT-N0CN-NNNN is a frameless synchronous torque motor built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the MST Synchronous Torque Motors series. Designed for direct coupling to large machine shafts, it drives heavy loads at low speed without gearboxes, making it suitable for plastics extruders, printing cylinders, and rotary tables in automated lines. The stator employs an open aluminum cooling jacket that measures 150 mm in length and 480 mm in outside diameter, allowing water to circulate and extract heat generated during continuous operation.
Under nominal conditions the motor supplies a continuous output torque of 810 Nm while turning at a rated speed of 95 min⁻¹. At this operating point it delivers 8.10 kW of mechanical power. The electromagnetic design converts phase current to torque with a constant of 44.47 Nm/A; therefore the rated current of 18.1 A is sufficient to sustain the specified load. Copper loss across the 3.9 Ω phase resistance and the 31.0 mH winding inductance is managed by the internal water circuit, so thermal drift is minimized and response to step commands remains linear.
When the application demands short bursts the motor can reach a peak torque of 2075 Nm and may draw up to 60.0 A from the drive amplifier. Because the frame carries an IP00 designation, it must be mounted inside a protected housing where coolant, wiring, and position transducer elements are already sealed. The water-cooled jacket and its 150 mm length add only 38.7 kg to the axis mass; this compact weight distribution lowers system inertia while still maintaining radial stiffness. Together these limits define the safe intermittent zone in which process controllers can request acceleration spikes without exceeding thermal capacity.
