The MST290D-0002-FH-N0PU-NNNN torque motor is produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the MST Synchronous Torque Motors series. As a direct-drive unit, it supplies low-speed, high-torque rotation for indexing tables, extruders, and similar automation axes that benefit from eliminating gearboxes. The permanent-magnet rotor couples directly to the load, reducing backlash and maintenance while enabling precise positioning under servo control. Because the model lacks an integral encoder, it is intended for systems where external feedback devices or open-loop control are already used.

This motor uses a closed water jacket for active stator cooling, and the cooling method is water cooling, which extracts heat continuously so full torque can be maintained during low-speed duty. Electrical leads exit through a rotatable connector, allowing cable routing to be adjusted without twisting the stator connections. The outer shell has a diameter of 310 mm, providing the pole surface area needed for high magnetic flux. Under momentary overload, the windings can accept up to 25 A, enabling the drive to reach its peak capability of 700 Nm without demagnetizing the rotor. An encapsulating housing cooling jacket surrounds the stator laminations, which helps keep thermal distribution uniform and protects the windings.

The open frame has an IP00 rating, so it must be installed inside a sealed machine housing before use. At nominal conditions, the motor delivers 0.9 kW of mechanical output and reaches a rated speed of 25 rpm from a steady 6.3 A phase current. The corresponding rated torque is 350 Nm, while standstill torque rises to 365 Nm for static holding tasks. With a jacket length of 135 mm and an overall mass of 33.6 kg, the unit remains compact enough for vertical or horizontal mounting arrangements.
