The MSK101D-0450-FN-M1-AG3-NNNN is a MSK series servo motor from Bosch Rexroth. It is a synchronous motor: its speed is synchronized with the incoming electrical current frequency. A drive controller supplies the current for the motor. In addition to supplying motor power, the drive controller also controls motor speed, position and torque. The MSK101D-0450-FN-M1-AG3- NNNN motor features a digital sensor known as an encoder that measure motors speed and positon, and sends this information to the controller. The controller uses motor feedback to ascertain whether the motor is performing as per requirements. If motor parameters are out of range, the controller modulates its output to bring motor parameters in line with desired parameters. Prior to system commissioning, an operator programs the controller with desired motor parameters. The encoder on the MSK101D-0450-FN-M1-AG3-NNNN motor is an optical multiturn absolute encoder with Hiperface and 128 signal periods.

The MSK101D-0450-FN-M1-AG3-NNNN includes a holding brake with 120 Nm holding torque. The function of the brake is to prevent shaft rotation from standstill. The brake is basically a safety device designed to prevent unintended shaft rotation. The brake only releases the shaft after application of a 24 Volts DC signal.
