As a rotary actuator, it converts drive current from an IndraDrive controller into tightly regulated torque and speed for positioning tables, packaging axes, and similar automation tasks. The motor is built with increased concentricity, so shaft runout stays minimal during precise moves, and its plain shaft couples directly to gearboxes or couplings without keying.

In operation, the unit relies on natural convection rather than forced air, allowing installation inside sealed machine frames while remaining within thermal limits. A housing rated IP65 blocks dust and low-pressure water jets, permitting use near washdown areas in food or chemical processes. Motion feedback is supplied by an optical multiturn encoder that generates 2048 signal periods per revolution, and its digital link uses the EnDat 2.1 interface for absolute position transfer and automatic electronic nameplate reading.
