Bosch Rexroth Indramat supplies the MS2S04-C0BTN-IMHG0-NNDNN-NN, a member of the MS2S Synchronous Servomotors series used as a compact drive axis in automated assembly and machining equipment. The unit integrates a magnetic multi-turn encoder for position feedback and uses a self-cooling design rather than external fans. Its low-inertia rotor shortens acceleration times during fast indexing, and the motor is delivered without a holding brake, keeping mass low in applications where mechanical clamping or drive torque maintains position when power is removed.
Frame size 04 and frame length C produce an 82 mm square flange that connects to gearboxes through a 95 mm hole circle with 6.6 mm mounting holes. A 50 mm centering collar with a DIN 332 Part 2 locating bore and DS M5 thread aligns the housing, while the flange has tolerance class N. Concentricity is limited to 0.035 mm, and the total coaxial alignment error does not exceed 0.08 mm, supporting precise coupling. The motor uses IM B5 / IM 3001 mounting and reaches a maximum speed of 6000 rpm with winding code BT. A standard deep-groove ball bearing carries radial loads, while a smooth shaft with a sealing ring retains lubricant. Black RAL 9005 varnish protects the housing. Electrical power and feedback are routed through a rotatable single-cable M17 connector. The internal ctrlX SENSEmotor interface processes BASIC 18-bit data and distinguishes 65,536 revolutions in multi-turn mode. The interface operates from 8 to 12 V and communicates with the drive electronics.
The encoder draws a peak current of 130 mA and reaches a maximum system accuracy of ±360 arcseconds. Its single-turn resolution is 18 bits, and the enclosure has an IP65 rating, protecting the assembly against dust ingress and water jets. A Quick-lock SpeedTec collar secures the connector and permits installation without tools. For machine layouts with limited space, the motor’s smooth shaft has a diameter of 14 mm and fits most standard couplings without additional bushings.
