To build a cost-effective and rapid-response automation system, digital AC servo motors like those in the MDD series and digital drive controllers from Indramat are required. The MDD servo motors are Bosch Rexroth products that ensure high contouring accuracies at high feed rates.

The MDD112D-N-030-N2L-180PB0 is an MDD servo motor with a brushless design and lifetime-lubricated bearing, allowing its maintenance-free operation. Thanks to its bearing that allows the application of high radial loads, pinions and belt pulleys can be directly attached to the shaft. Its shaft is the type with a keyway according to DIN 6885 and a shaft sealing ring to provide form-fitting torque transmission. The motor’s centering diameter is 180mm, and its nominal speed is 3,000 revolutions per minute. Its rotor’s permanent magnet is composed of iron oxide and rare earth materials, giving the motor low inertia and a favorable torque-inertia ratio. This rotor’s moment of inertia is 230 x 10^-4 kgm², and the maximum current permissible in the MDD model is 222.2A.

With its sealed housing, the MDD112D-N-030-N2L-180PB0 is safe for use under poor environmental conditions. Its Ingress Protection rating is IP 65 according to EN 60529, indicating that it cannot be penetrated by solid extrinsic objects or multidirectional water jet sprays. Its housing varnish is a black prime coat that is resistant to weathering, yellowing, and chalky buildup. It is equipped with a thermal sensor in its stator windings to keep it from damage by thermal overload. Thanks to efficient heat dissipation from these windings to the external walls of its housing, it has a high overload capability. The integrated encoder system in this MDD model is digital servo feedback.
