The MAC090B-0-ND-4-C/110-B-1/WA610XX is an AC spindle motor that belongs to the MAC series of the Rexroth Indramat Bosch Company. On side B, the connector and a standard blocking brake are fitted to guarantee enhanced performance and reliability. In the MAC090B-0-ND-4-C/110-B-1/WA610XX motor, natural convection cooling is used for cooling, in which no complicated systems are incorporated; this makes the motor very reliable and requires little maintenance. Natural convection is caused by buoyancy, which causes hot air to rise and move away from heat sources. It is most suitable for use in areas where minimal complexity and long-term operation are critical.

Natural convection cooling uses the natural movement of air to cool the motor by exchanging heat. When the electric motor is running, this produces heat, so the surrounding air becomes warm. When the air becomes warm, it becomes light, moving up to make way for cooler air to invade from the bottom. Air flows around the motor in this way, and this airflow aids in cooling it; thus, no other mechanical parts are used, such as fans or blowers.

This cooling type is used because a passive cooling system like natural convection does not require fans or blowers, which would introduce more load and mechanical complexity to the motor. No mechanical cooling parts are needed, and there will be low noise; thus, it is suitable for use in areas where noise is an issue. It has saved on the cost of additional cooling hardware and related management costs. There are no parts that experience any movements because of cooling, and therefore, there is no time-bound maintenance or replacement of cooling parts.
