The motor comes with an IP65 rated housing. This type of housing is safe from dust ingress. The housing is also safe from water ingress when the water is directed at the motor from low-pressure jets. Carbon brushes were used in traditional motors for switching current. However, the brushes suffered from wear and tear, and required periodic replacement. By replacing carbon brushes with electronic circuits, Bosch has made MAC motors safer, more reliable, and significantly reduced maintenance requirements.
Bearings used on the motor don’t require lubrication. As a result of these factor, MAC motors are maintenance-free. MAC motors support tacho feedback and can be equipped with an additional encoder.
