The KVR1.2-30-3 belongs to the KVR Power Supply Modules series manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat. As a regulated supply and regenerative interface, this module feeds the DC bus in multi-axis drive systems, absorbs surplus energy during braking, and returns or dissipates it so motion controllers can keep motors within commanded speed and torque limits during acceleration, deceleration, and steady-state operation. A built-in DC bus choke smooths line-side currents, and internal dynamic braking hardware engages automatically.
The module supports a DC link that can deliver a continuous 30 kW and withstand a momentary demand of 90 kW during acceleration peaks. For rotary axes that run steadily, it provides 24 kW of mechanical load power, while sustained braking cycles are handled through 15 kW of continuous regeneration so returned energy can be managed without forcing the bus above its intended operating range. Up to 100 kWs of kinetic energy can be taken from the drive train per event, and any excess is routed through the bleeder to prevent overvoltage. When network conditions permit, the regen-to-line function pushes recovered energy back to the mains instead of wasting it as heat. These power paths are coordinated without external relays, and phase monitoring blocks operation if the three-phase supply is lost or reversed.
For control electronics, a stabilized auxiliary rail supplies 11 A at 24 V, and the logic transformer is rated at 500 VA so PLC I/O, sensors, and related control circuits can be powered locally without a separate external supply. The bleeder stage’s thermal design limits dissipation to 40 kW and is supervised by temperature sensors tied to the drive controller. A programmable Soft Start circuit precharges the capacitors, preventing inrush currents that could trip upstream protection. Additional safeguards include internal line fuses, regulated power-outage braking that brings motors to a controlled stop during mains failure, and automatic verification that phase sequence and symmetry fall within tolerance before the contactor closes.
