The KVR 1.2-15-3 is a power supply module built by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the KVR Power Supply Modules series. The unit converts three-phase line power to a stabilized DC bus and auxiliary control voltages so that multiple drive controllers in an industrial automation cell can share a common supply. By managing both motoring and regenerative energy, the module maintains bus voltage within a stable range and supports continuous operation of servo inverters and their logic circuits. This arrangement allows several axes to operate from one central power source.

At the input side, the module accepts a three-phase supply of 3 × 380–460 V AC within ±10%. Internally, it rectifies and filters this source to provide a regulated bus of 320 V DC. Under normal motoring load, the converter can deliver 24 kW of electrical power to the connected drives, while its chopper circuitry can dissipate or return up to 15 kW during regeneration. The silicon bridge and storage capacitors are sized so that the common bus can sustain 30 kW continuously without voltage sag, allowing multiple servo axes to accelerate at the same time.

The auxiliary features ensure thermal and control stability during operation. During steady operation, approximately 20% of the processed energy is released as enclosure heat, and a dedicated blower rated at 70 VA moves air across the heat sink to keep semiconductor junctions within limits. The module accepts utility frequencies of 50 to 60 Hz, permitting installation on different power systems without rewiring. Besides the power bus, it provides logic supply rails of 24 V and ±15 V for drive electronics, feedback devices, and relay coils, eliminating the need for separate control transformers. Because the electronic chopper monitors the bus, voltage excursions caused by braking cycles are minimized, which reduces stress on connected inverters and helps support long service life.
