The KDA 3.2-100-3-DQD-W1 is a spindle drive module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat for the KDA Spindle Drives series. The unit is version 2 in series 3 and converts regulated DC-bus power into controlled three-phase output for high-speed motorized spindles used in machining centers and other automated tooling. By linking directly to Indramat controller racks, it provides torque, speed, and positioning functions that keep cutting or grinding operations synchronized with the numerical control. This arrangement allows the drive to serve as the power interface between the cabinet DC supply and the spindle motor while remaining coordinated with the machine control.
Electrical performance is supported by a continuous output of 100 A, giving the drive enough current reserve for aggressive acceleration of heavy rotor masses. The power stage is fed from a regulated bus at 300 VDC, so the supply must maintain that level for rated dynamics. Thermal energy is removed by forced cooling, using a mounted heatsink blower on the rear panel. That blower operates from an auxiliary line of 220 V/50–60 Hz, keeping the cooling circuit separate from the main power conversion path. Motion data arrives through a 16-bit parallel digital speed command interface, allowing the control system to send high-resolution velocity values on each cycle.

Operation is permitted up to 1000 m above sea level; higher installation points require reduced current to limit semiconductor temperature. When closed-loop axis control is needed, the unit also accepts a digital position command value signal on a dedicated port. The dedicated position input keeps command paths separate when the axis must manage both velocity regulation and indexed positioning in spindle systems that share a common DC link.
