The KDA 3.2-100-3-D00-W1 is a spindle drive module from the KDA Spindle Drives series. This unit is series 3 and version 2 within the product line, and it is intended for common DC-bus systems used in CNC machining centers. It converts shared bus energy into controlled phase outputs for spindle motors, supporting accurate speed control during drilling, milling, and grinding. The drive also works with the machine control so spindle rotation can stay synchronized with feed-axis motion during cutting cycles. In a machining cell, this allows the spindle axis to follow programmed speed changes as tools enter or leave the workpiece.
This drive operates from a 300 VDC bus and can provide a continuous output of 100 A, helping the spindle respond to changing cutting loads without abrupt speed loss. Thermal energy is removed by a heatsink blower that uses forced cooling, which supports sustained operation when the spindle runs under prolonged load. The blower itself is powered by 220 V, 50–60 Hz and runs whenever the power stage is enabled. Speed command data reaches the control electronics as a 16-bit digital parallel word, giving the drive a precise setpoint format for closed-loop spindle regulation. Using a direct digital word helps avoid analog offset drift and preserves repeatable command resolution across the available speed range.
The unit is intended for ambient conditions from 5 to 45 °C and installation heights up to 1000 m. Outside that operating range, external cooling or power derating is required. The hardware includes no additional interface option, so it remains focused on core spindle-drive functions rather than optional network expansion. It also has no second encoder input, which means feedback handling is limited to the primary encoder path and the related command wiring stays direct. Because the expansion options are limited, the drive is suited to applications that rely on the standard control and feedback arrangement already provided by the base hardware.
