KDA 3.1-100-3-AQ0-W1 is a Bosch Rexroth spindle drive. It has a modular architecture with several selectable features that allow operators to match the drive feature set to the exact requirements. The main function of the drive is to control the speed and other characteristics of a connected Bosch motor. Specifically, KDA drives can be used with Bosch 1MB and Bosch 2AD industrial motors. These microcomputer-controlled drives use advanced algorithms for motor control. The drive microcomputer is responsible for all control, diagnostics, and monitoring functions. The software for KDA drives is stored on a programming module. In addition to drive software, this module also stores operating parameters. A designated slot on the front panel is available for this module. The module can be slid in easily. It can also be removed easily when and if required.
To speed up drive commissioning, the contents of a programming module from a working/configured drive can be copied to other blank programming modules. These can then be inserted in other drives to make them ready for operation. KDA drives require 0 to 45 ⁰C ambient temperature and 0 to 1000 meters altitude to deliver rated output. Rated current output of the KDA 3.1-100-3-AQ0-W1 drive is 100 Amps. The drive is cooled by the combination of a heat sink mounted on the rear and a blower mounted on the heat sink. To reduce the cost of drive enclosures, Bosch has designed the drive so that the heat sink mounts outside the drive enclosure. With this design, the enclosure does not require internal cooling systems, which drives down the cost. Speed command value for the KDA 3.1-100-3-AQ0-W1 drive is analog ±10 V. An auxiliary encoder input is available for 1 Volt sinusoidal encoders.
