Product Description:
The KDA 3.1-050-3-AYS-W1 is an intelligent digital motor drive, built by Indramat as a part of the KDA series for precise position, speed and torque control. It provides 50 A of rated continuous output current and can deliver a peak output current of 100 A. The panel’s front includes navigation keys for parameter adjustments and a slot for the AS programming module.
The KDA 3.1-050-3-AYS-W1 panel features a continuous output power rated at 11 kW and its DC bus voltage is 300 Volts. Its input voltage requirement is three-phase 230/400 V AC and it accepts an analog ±10 V for input commands. This panel includes an auxiliary encoder input configured as Y, which supports auxiliary and synchronous feedback for AS35 applications. The auxiliary interface is configured as a digital 16-bit parallel input to support high-resolution position command values and it has an integrated brake chopper to safely dissipate excess energy during deceleration that prevents the system from overload. The KDA 3.1 drive features forced air cooling using a heatsink blower that is powered by a 220V AC supply and there is also a ground connection to ensure operational safety.
The KDA 3.1-050-3-AYS-W1 drive includes a motor NTC terminal to monitor temperature for thermal protection and its power output terminals are provided with safety covers to prevent accidental contact. Its interface X3 is designated for motor feedback connections that includes resolver and encoder spindle feedback while an auxiliary feedback option is available on interface X5. The interface X4 handles speed command inputs, analog signals and the SERCOS interface for system communication. The KDA 3.1 drive has serial RS232C interface for data communication and diagnostics. It is IP20 rated and requires installation within electrical enclosures.
Frequently Asked Questions about KDA 3.1-050-3-AYS-W1:
Q: How does the integrated brake chopper in the KDA 3.1-050-3-AYS-W1 improve system safety?
A: The brake chopper dissipates excess energy during deceleration, preventing voltage spikes that can damage the drive. This feature protects the system from overload conditions and ensures stable operation.
Q: What advantages does the 16-bit parallel auxiliary input provide in the KDA 3.1-050-3-AYS-W1?
A: The 16-bit input allows for highly precise position commands, improving control accuracy. It supports complex motion profiles by enabling finer resolution of input signals.
Q: How does the motor NTC terminal contribute to thermal protection in the KDA 3.1-050-3-AYS-W1?
A: The NTC terminal monitors motor temperature in real-time, allowing the drive to reduce output or shut down to prevent overheating. This protects both motor and drive from thermal damage.
Q: What is the purpose of the auxiliary encoder input configured as Y in the KDA 3.1-050-3-AYS-W1?
A: This configuration supports synchronous feedback, enhancing the precision of AS35 application controls. It ensures accurate synchronization between motor and control system.
Q: Can the KDA 3.1-050-3-AYS-W1 handle varying input voltage conditions?
