Its design supports four-quadrant operation so that acceleration, deceleration, and active braking are handled by the same unit without external contactors. This arrangement helps the spindle respond quickly to changing load conditions during cutting, indexing, and other speed-controlled processes.

The drive outputs a continuous current of 50 A while drawing energy from a DC link stabilized at 300 VDC. Internal heat is removed by forced cooling, and the fan receives power from a separate 115 VAC heat-sink supply. Command and diagnostic signals enter through the X2, 37-pin control I/O connector, which includes logic for drive enable, fault reset, and a ready relay routed to X11. Speed reference is accepted as an analog ±10 V signal on the X4 terminal, and the rotor position channel returns through the X3, 15-pin feedback plug. Because the unit is configured as a four-quadrant converter, regenerative energy is fed back to the common DC bus during overhauling loads. Spindle types in the 2AD and 1MB motor families can be connected to the drive, allowing one unit to support a range of spindle configurations. The permissible ambient temperature range is 5 to 45 °C, which suits most production floors when cabinet airflow remains unobstructed. Installation sites may be located up to 1000 m above sea level before derating applies.
