The KDA 2.1-150-3-LPS-U1 is a spindle drive module produced by Bosch Rexroth Indramat within the KDA Spindle Drives series. The drive forms part of an axis package that regulates asynchronous or synchronous spindle motors in machining equipment and transfer lines. By combining current control, speed control, and field-oriented control methods, it delivers the torque and rotational accuracy required for drilling, milling, and turning operations under changing load conditions. It is suited for machine tools that need stable spindle behavior during acceleration, cutting, and orientation functions.
Its power section is linked to a factory DC bus rated at 300 VDC, and the output stage can deliver a continuous motor current of 150 A without derating. The commanded spindle velocity enters the drive over the SERCOS interface, allowing coordinated motion with other axes on the same fiber-optic ring. A dedicated AC supply of 115 V at 50/60 Hz powers the heat sink blower so the cooling circuit remains separate from the main bus. Because the thermal path relies on forced cooling, airflow remains steady even during low-speed cutting cycles. An auxiliary encoder socket also accepts spindle or additional motor feedback to support orientation and synchronized motion tasks.
