Product Description:

The KDA 2.1-100-3-DQD-U1 is a digital spindle drive. This microcomputer-controlled drive from Bosch is optimized for intelligent control of 1MB and 2AD Bosch motors. Multiple co-located drives can be used for applications with multi-axis control requirements. The drive installs inside an enclosure and careful planning is required for the proper installation and operation of KDV series power supply units and multiple drive units that will be housed in a single enclosure. A critical element of this planning is ensuring that the internal enclosure temperature stays between 5 and 45 ⁰C. The drive output derates between 1000 and 5000 meters, and the latter is the upper limit allowed by Bosch for KDA drive operation. Protection category of KDA drives is IP10, which means they are safe from penetration by solid objects having 50 millimeter dimensions.

Approximate dimensions of the drive are 390 x 150 x 355 millimeters. KDA drives emit heat over housing vents and through the rear-mounted heatsink. A major feature of KDA drive design is dissipation of heat outside the drive enclosure. This helps to keep the internal temperature of the enclosure low. Furthermore, KDA drive enclosure don’t require cooling systems, which reduces capital expenditure associated with the overall system. Operators must, however, ensure that if a single duct is used for multiple heatsinks, it should have sufficient spacing to prevent overheating. The air used for cooling should be clean as dirty air can contaminate the heat sink and cause the drive to switch off. Rated output of the KDA 2.1-100-3-DQD-U1 drive is 100 Amps. This drive receives speed commands via a 16-bit parallel interface. Encoder input is supported via an auxiliary input module. The blower requires 115 Volts AC power.
