Within an automation cell, it forms the link between a CNC controller and the mechanical spindle. Because spindle speed and shaft position must stay coordinated with the motion program, the drive continuously adjusts motor output as cutting load changes during drilling, milling, and grinding processes.
The drive is energized by a DC bus of 300 VDC, and its output stages can deliver a continuous 100 A of current to the spindle motor. Thermal management relies on a mounted heat sink blower operating in forced cooling mode, and the blower itself is powered from an auxiliary supply of 220 V/50–60 Hz. This cooling arrangement removes switching and conduction heat during sustained spindle operation and helps the unit remain stable through long machining cycles.
