Bosch Indramat has developed the KDA 2.1-100-3-AYD-U1, a primary spindle drive that is made for industrial automation systems. The KDA 2.1-100-3-AYD-U1 spindle drive is capable of operating at a DC bus voltage of 300 V and a rated current of 100 A. Optimal operating conditions are maintained by the utilization of a heatsink and blower. The motor is regulated with precision by an analog speed input that operates within a ±10V range. The unit also accommodates digital and analog command signals, such as torque limits (MD-RED) and position commands (POS1, POS2). Other inputs, such as OSCILLATE, RF, and RUN, facilitate the management of the spindle's functionality and motion. Through SPEED1/SPEED2, it can manage motor switching and speed increments. The EXT POS is used to regulate the spindle reference. The drive also includes TEMP WARN for overtemperature warnings and IN POS for indicating when the position is reached.

There are extra ports on the KDA 2.1-100-3-AYD-U1 spindle drive that can be added if needed. Some of these are an RS232 digital interface, a SERCOS fiber-optic interface, and incremental encoder outputs. The unit has extra encoder inputs and a watch panel for finding problems.
