The KDA 2.1-100-3-AP0-W1-220 is a drive module manufactured by Bosch Rexroth Indramat and assigned to the KDA Spindle Drives series. It regulates induction or synchronous spindle motors in CNC machining centers, grinders, and drilling lines, where stable speed control is required during changing cutting loads. Operating between the plant DC link and the motor windings, the unit generates controlled three-phase output and maintains consistent spindle rotation during acceleration, deceleration, and steady cutting. It receives motion commands from the machine control and delivers timed voltage waveforms that keep spindle speed aligned with programmed operating conditions.

The power stage operates from a regulated DC link of 300 VDC and can supply a continuous phase current of 100 A, providing current capacity for rapid spindle acceleration and changing load demand. Speed reference enters as an analog speed command, so the drive can follow ±10 V control signals from a numerical control system without requiring a digital command interface. Heat is removed by forced-air cooling with an external fan powered from 220 V/50-60 Hz, which helps keep internal components within their intended temperature range during extended operation. No additional interface option is included, so the wiring layout remains straightforward and the connection scheme stays limited to the required control and power functions.

A heat sink-mounted blower directs airflow across the cooling fins, allowing installation in cabinets where the surrounding air remains between 5 to 45 °C. If the ambient temperature rises above that range, the output current must be reduced to limit thermal loading and prevent overtemperature shutdown. The control electronics remain suitable for operation up to 1000 m above sea level, which covers most standard industrial installations. A second encoder input is available for spindle feedback or auxiliary motor feedback, supporting accurate speed regulation and position correlation when the drive is used in coordinated multi-axis machining systems.
